The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 14: Back Home Again
In the middle of 1910, we returned to England. We had been away for 3 years and I finally got to see my friend Clark again. I had become a more educated person and I learned so much about different countries in the world. My family was planning another expedition in 2 years. They were studying the Mormon texts that spoke of a lost civilization somewhere in the United States of America. I was interested and I listened to the stories with awe. It would be a while before we set off again.

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 11: Greece and Italy
In the summer of 1909, we traveled to Greece. We sailed from Cairo to Athens on a steamer. In Greece, I went with my family to see the Acropolis atop a mountain in the middle of Athens. I saw the ancient Parthenon temple and the theater where plays were once performed. The Temple of Zeus was another appealing sight. Although it was in ruins, the temple was once a glorious and grand structure. I thought it was fitting for a god like Zeus. The Greeks were masters of building and it was amazing they had created a wondrous temple.
I also toured the islands of Santorini, Crete, M

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 12: Austrian Christmas
In Fall of 1909, we traveled by train from Italy to Vienna, capital of the Empire of Austria Hungary. It was going to be great staying here for a while. I was really glad to be in Vienna. I enjoyed a strudel at a local bakery and rode around the city in a horse carriage. I also got to meet Sigmund Freud, a brilliant psychologist and psychiatrist. Sigmund Freud shared a lot of his knowledge of the human brain. Freud and I talked about psychology for a long time while I took notes. It was interesting to learn about how the human mind works.
On Christmas Eve, we received an

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 10: Ottoman Empire and Egypt
In Spring of 1909, we traveled by train to Constantinople (now known as Istanbul), the capital of the Ottoman Empire. I saw the city and Hagia Sofia church/mosque. I also experienced the city up close. The people there were very nice and I enjoyed the city. One of the best experiences was getting a Turkish bath. The staff lathered me up in bubbles and I got a massage all while lying down wrapped in a towel. I sat in a sauna and went to cool off in a cold room. I enjoyed the whole experience.
We then traveled on a ship to Egypt. Upon arriving in Alexandria, we travele

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 9: In The Court of The Tsar
In Early 1909, we left India on a train and traveled to Russia. The train took us to Moscow. I explored St. Basil's Cathedral and was amazed at the architecture. The building was beautiful and captivating. I got to see the shrine and the Kremlin Palace. We later took a train to St. Petersburg and arrived at the grand hotel. The hotel was grand, lavish and beautiful. It was a few blocks away from the Tsar's palace. My parents received invitations from the Tsar himself to attend a ball that night.
We were dressed in our best clothing. All of us boarded a carriage to the

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 8: Adventures in India
I arrived in Bombay on July 1st, 1908. The train and steamship ride was quick and I had made it to the largest trading port in India. The port in India was full of people. I was glad to arrive in this British Colony. After we got to India, the first place we headed to was the market. They sold spices and other goods. My parents bought some stuff and then we went to the mansion where we would be staying. I had an Indian nanny and she would teach me the ways of India. I learned about meditation and studied Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism. I learned more about Islam a

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 7: New Zealand, Japan and China
In February of 1908, we sailed to New Zealand. Our first stop was the city of Christchurch. The city was beginning to grow into a larger one at the time. For centuries, New Zealand had been seen as a distant outpost of the British Empire but was now becoming an important center of trade and commerce. We traveled to Kaikourra and Queenstown before traveling past the Pancake Rocks on the west coast. We sailed to the North Island from the city of Motueka. The ferry landed in the capital city of Wellington. I got to see the botanical gardens and educate myself about t

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 6: Adventure Down Under
In June of 1907, we set sail across the Indian Ocean from South Africa to Australia. It was going to be a long voyage. It took us until early October to reach Perth in Western Australia. This was the beginning of another adventure. After getting off the ship, we headed for the train station. We were going to catch a train which would be taking us to the Outback. We traveled until we reached a small town in the Outback. After that, all of us settled into a small farmhouse which would be our home for the next few days. It was uneventful. I often would go out wandering in the

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 5: Off to South Africa!
It was February 1907 when I left England with my foster parents to explore the Eastern Hemisphere. We set off from Dover on a steamer bound for Cape Town in South Africa. We arrived in Cape Town. It had been 5 years since the end of the Boer War. The Dutch South Africans has a great resentment against us British.
We lived in a manor house in the countryside. There were wild animals and other creatures. We would sometimes have baboons break into our house so my father had a rifle just in case. Baboons were capable of attacking people and killing livestock animals. We did n

The Young Professor Layton Chronicles Chapter 4: The Royal Exposition of Science and Invention
The first Royal Exposition was held in London in May 1906. Just one month before, a violent earthquake destroyed and damaged the city of San Francisco in the United States. The exposition was held by King Edward to support the science and invention. I was lucky to attend. Myself and my parents all went to London in our automobile. We were dressed in our finest clothes for the expo. We entered the building and all of us were eager to meet some of the big names of the day. Everyone was attending in fine outfits and clothing. Families were looking at
